De Mient

De Mient reveals the evolving landscape of Texel, once a wet heathland used for grazing and fuel, later transformed into meadows and production forest. Now part of Nationaal Park Duinen van Texel, this area features the 4.4 km Natuurpad De Mient trail, winding through Austrian and Corsican pine forests, past Het Vierkante Stuk—a remnant meadow—and the Bleekersvallei, where heathland thrives due to drying soils. The route suits families, with options to shorten the walk, and includes a large play meadow with a playground at Het Vierkante Stuk. Toilets are available on-site. Staatsbosbeheer organises regular excursions, listed in their activities calendar, while multiple cycling and walking paths allow self-guided exploration.
